The Far North Queensland region offers holiday makers with so many exciting outdoor adventures such as hiking. The picturesque landscape of the Daintree Rainforest continues to captivates and entices tourists to explore the beautiful lush area. We at The Villas Palm Cove invites holiday makers to take a leisurely hike at the lush bush tracks and marvel at the stunning scenery of the Cairns tropical region and if you’re planning to embark on a hiking trip we have prepared a couple of simple suggestions for you to consider before heading out to the bushlands.

Just like any other holiday excursions, hiking trip should be planned out carefully - list down all the items you need on your hiking trip and also prepare the necessary tools that can help you safely get to their destination. It is always best to bring a very detailed map that shows each walking trails. Also, we advise hikers visiting our Palm Cove accommodation to tell their friends or relatives where and when they’ll be hiking.

It is always great to suit up with the proper hiking gear and apparel such as hiking boots, rain gears, sun visors and sunglasses. During the warmer months, try to wear light-weight clothing but make sure to bring along a sweater just in case the weathers turns cold. Don’t forget to use a sunscreen before going out.

Pack the essential items like food and water, camping gears as well as first aid kits. Always bring along healthy snacks and water while hiking to get you energized and hydrated. If you’re camping out for the night, bring foods that can be easily prepared or does not need to be cooked like canned foods. Overnight campers should also take the necessary items that you may need such as like sleeping bags, torches, cooking utensils and tents. Walking through the bushlands may cause small injury like simple scrapes, bumps, bruises and blisters that why you should always be ready with a first aid kit. Make sure that your first aid kit has band-aids, bandages, antiseptic ointments, and insect repellant.

Hikers should be very considerate of mother nature - make sure not to throw any rubbish out when you're hiking. Also, be very careful before not to cause wild bush fires - we recommend our Palm Cove apartments always check areas that are prone to wild bush fires and instead of starting camp fires just bring along rechargeable lamps.
